Published Data

Did they fix it
inside 28 days?

Two figures published per authority each month, with the method shown below. Time to fix and repair quality, sourced from resident reports and resident checks.

Time to fix
Reports made safe inside the 28-day statutory deadline, as a percentage of all reports older than 28 days
Repair quality
Resident repair checks graded good or acceptable, as a percentage of all resident checks counted

Published method

Time to fix. A report counts in the denominator once it is more than 28 days old. It counts in the numerator if it is now marked repaired or fixed. Only authorities with three or more reports are shown.

Repair quality. Resident repair checks submitted via potholepatrol.co.uk/repair-check. Photographs without GPS metadata are recorded but not counted. Checks submitted within four weeks of the repair are marked too early and counted on the seasonal re-check.

What we do not publish. Individual failure records. Contractor names. Opinions on councils. We publish the location, the authority, the date, the photograph and the result.

Not enough data yet

This table grows as reports are verified and repair checks come in. Each authority needs at least three reports before its figures appear here.

Add a repair check

Your check closes the loop.

The fix rate tells you whether the council is acting. The repair quality figure tells you whether the work held up. One needs your report. The other needs your check. Both take under a minute.

For councils

Every maintenance contract carries a defect rectification period. A failed patch is the contractor's to redo at no cost to you. The repair quality record shows which patches failed, by location, with photographs and dates.
